2.

By default a LuxDrops folder is created on your desktop. This folder is automatically synchronised with the LuxDrops Cloud storage infrastructure.

3.

This LuxDrops folder can be used like any other normal Windows directory.

4.

In addition the LuxDrops icon appears in the Windows taskbar and shows the synchronisation status of the data managed by LuxDrops.

4.

This icon changes while synchronisation operations are ongoing.

1.

By default the LuxDrops folder is accessed just like a normal windows directory. The LuxDrops managed files are manipulated as normal files. A background process synchronises these files with the Cloud-based storage nodes. In addition any LuxDrops folder can be accesses through the LuxDrops client application.

2.

The LuxDrops client offers a server side view of your data and the data that someone else has shared with you.

3.

By double clicking on a document, it is automatically downloaded from the LuxDrops storage node and opened on your PC. In addition, new files can be directly uploaded into the cloud.

4.

By selecting the Configuration view, automatic versioning can be activated on a per share basis.

5.

All changes to a document are automatically versioned on the server side. Only the most recent version is replicated to the client. Through a convenient user interface, the user can manage the various versions.

6.

Previous versions can be directly accessed or restored. The current version is highlighted in green.

7.

LuxDrops is offering backup and restore features out of the box: you can access and restore previous versions of the data but you can also access and restore previously deleted files (coloured in grey).

1.

A key feature of LuxDrops are advanced data sharing possibilities: you can share your data with other users and you can see the data that other users have shared with you. You can select to replicate the data that someone else has shared with you to your computer.

2.

Sharing of the data can be individually enabled for each share. In order to share a folder with another user, you first need to select the "Selected people" mode in the configuration view. Then you can define the access rights in the "Rights" tab.

3.

In the current version, access rights are defined on a per user and per share basis. Advanced rights management is currently in development and will be available soon. In order to grant access to an additional user, simply hit the "Add user" button and enter the username to add. Write access is defined by selecting the appropriate check box.

4.

The users who were granted access to a share will be notified by the LuxDrops client when they connect to LuxDrops. They have the option to access the share at server side only or to replicate the data to their local disk. This setting can be changed at a later stage through the configuration menu. When selecting "Make available offline", a pop-up windows lets you select the directory used to replicate the data.

4.

In case of a replication conflict the user has to chose the file he wants to keep.

4.

In addition, the LuxDrops managed data may be split into several shares. So any user is free to create appropriate shares depending on his needs. A new share can be created in the Configuration view by hitting the "Create" button. Access rights are defined on a per share basis.

1.

In order to keep an overview of the LuxDrops managed data, an multi-dimensional search tool has been added to the LuxDrops client. In addition to a pattern based search algorithm, two selection wheels let you refine your search criteria. A first wheel lets you set additional temporal constraints, whereas the second selection wheel adds constraints at type level, by distinguishing Documents, Applications, Movies, Pictures and Music. This selection wheel can be adapted to the specific use cases of a customer.
